In traditional dojos,
footwear is placed by the entrance.
You bow as soon as you step into the first room of the dojo.
This is also done when you visit other dojos, be it a
traditional dojo or a gymnasium. In the Iwama dojo – if you
arrive in the dojo just prior to class – you bow sitting at
the entrance after you’ve put away your footwear.
